A woman from Uganda was allegedly forced into a sex racket in the Old Sangvi area of Pune. She filed an FIR in the Police station against the person named Prosly in the police station that comes under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerate.

According to police reports, Prosly is a Ugandan woman who resides in India. Reportedly, the complainant had received a call from Prosly on Friday, in January 2020. In the call, Prosly informed her about the call centre job in India. The complainant reached India and an acquaintance of Prosly received her at Mumbai Airport.

The man took away her passport and allegedly forced her into prostitution. According to the complainant, Prosly asked her to follow the instructions. The complainant filed the complaint after a year as she was afraid of the racketers.

The police have booked the accused under Section 370 (buying or disposing of any person as a slave) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956.

Investigating officer Inspector Ajay Bhosale said, “The complainant is known to have come to India on a tourist visa, but was later allegedly forced into prostitution. We have launched a search for the accused. A probe is on to identify others involved in the racket.”
