Two siblings murdered their father over an extramarital affair on the night of December 15 in Pune. The conspiracy for this murder is allegedly said to be inspired by the movie Drishyam.

The deceased has been identified as 43-year-old Dhananjay Navnath Bansode.

1. The victim is Dhananjay Navnath Bansode, who was running an eatery selling snack items.

2. He was murdered by his two sons, Sujit Dhananjay Bansode (22), a second-year engineering student, and Abhijit Dhananjay Bansode (18), a student in class 12.

3. He was murdered in his sleep during the night of December 15.

4. He was hit with an iron rod and suffocated to death with a pillow. The siblings then burned his body in the "farsan bhatti" furnace, which is used to make snacks at their eatery. Then they threw the ashes and bones along the Indrayani River.

5. The victim had been in an extramarital relationship with a woman based in Nagpur through social media for the past three years. This has often caused friction in the family. When the victim refused to break off his affair, the two sons decided to kill him.

6. To further mislead the police, the siblings filed a missing person's complaint at the Mhalunga Police Station on December 19.

7. The siblings admitted to having planned the murder, taking inspiration from the movie Drishyam.

8. Technical investigations revealed that the victim had made several calls to the woman over the past three years. He has also messaged her on social media about an imminent threat to his life from his family.

10. The accused siblings have been arrested under IPC sections 302 (punishment for murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offense or giving false information to a screen offender), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention).
11. The movie Drishyam has a similar plot where the protagonists commit a murder and hide the crime.
