She is outstanding: Trump on Barrett

However, when asked by journalists and media reporters if Barrett would indeed be his choice, Trump declined. "I haven’t said it was her, but she is outstanding," he said. Moreover, Trump is not known to have interviewed any other candidates and had a meeting with Barrett twice this week.

Democratic opponents, led by the presidential candidate Joe Biden, have showed opposition towards this possibility of replacing the liberal icon Ruth Ginsburg by a very pro Republican candidate. Barrett is known to have conservative views and is a devout catholic. Some expect her to undo all the progress in the pro abortion movement and possibly reverse women's rights a few decades.

If the nomination of Barrett is confirmed, she would become the 115th justice in the nation’s history. Moreover, she would be the fifth woman ever to serve on the Supreme Court. Furthermore, at 48, she would be the youngest member of the current court as well its sixth Catholic.

During Barrett's 2017 confirmation hearing, she had vowed to keep her personal views separate from her duties as a judge, she said, “If you’re asking whether I take my faith seriously and I’m a faithful Catholic, I am,” she told senators. “Although I would stress that my personal church affiliation or my religious belief would not bear in the discharge of my duties as a judge.”
