Thai Actor 'Tangmo' Nida Found Dead In River Days After Going Missing

Tangmo Nida was found Saturday after a 38-hour-long search, floating 300 meters from the Pibulsongkram Pier.

Thai actor Tangmo Nida Patcharaveerapong was found dead over the weekend, two days after she went missing, as per reports. Her body was recovered from the Chao Phraya River in Nonthaburi, a city in Thailand. She was 37. The actor's mother has alleged the circumstances of her death are suspicious.

As per local reports, she was on a speedboat outing with some friends on Thursday night, travelling from Thon Buri Bridge. At around 10:40 PM, he reportedly went to relieve herself near the rear end of the boat since the toilets were not working. Tangmo slipped into the river. She was not wearing a life jacket.

The water currents were reportedly strong that night. A person on the speedboat, identified as the actor's manager, saw her and tried to call for help. A rescue operation began around midnight but was difficult owing to the water conditions and low light.

Tangmo was found Saturday after a 38-hour-long search, floating 300 meters from the Pibulsongkram Pier. Her brother Dayos Detjob confirmed the recovered body was hers. "I come to take her back home," he was quoted saying by the local press.

As per Bangkok PostTangmo's body was sent for a post-mortem to Police General Hospital where a cause of death is expected to be confirmed. Reports suggest the speedboat owner, identified as Tanupat Lerttaweewit, who had an expired license and the boat driver, who did not have a license, could be charged in the case.

There were six people on the boat, including Tangmo. They were summoned for questioning on Friday, a day after the actor went missing.

The deceased's mother has expressed skepticism about the circumstances of the death, alleging that Tangmo's manager refused to take her calls after her daughter went missing.

Tangmo had several film and television credits to her name in the Thai entertainment industry. She is popular for her appearances in Bangkok Ghost Stories: The Last Bus, Sai Yom Si, Sai Rak Sai Sawat, Ploeng Dao and Jao Ying Lhong Yook, in which she played the lead.
