The local police revealed on July 5 that the trio went to the city outskirts to click selfies and went missing on Sunday. The following day, they found their deceased bodies in a pond.
The trio who lost their lives to the selfie obsession was identified as 16-year-old Sunitha, 14-year-old Vaishali and 14-year-old Anjali.
Telangana Sisters Found Dead In A Pond
According to a report by Times Now, one of the sisters fell into the pond and subsequently, the other two sisters jumped in to save her. Unfortunately, all of them drowned.
After receiving the bodies, they are sent for post-mortem examination and a case has been registered while further investigation is awaited.
Over the years, many similar cases have been reported in which the act of taking selfies resulted in death. Back in 2018, a three-year-old girl drowned in a lake at Althan Garden, Surat, as her parents strayed away to click selfies.
In the same year, yet another incident was reported where a Delhi woman fell down from a cliff around 900 feet above sea level and died at the age of 35, while she was on a four-day trip to the town.
In the year 2016, national-level Athlete Pooja Kumari drowned in Bhopal while taking a selfie near a pond. She did not know how to swim and unfortunately, her friends, who were reportedly present at the location did not know how to swim either.
