The daughter-in-law was then allegedly thrown out of the house after she became infected. Her sister brought the woman to her parent's house in Thimmapur village in Ranjanna Sircilla district, after learning about the incident on May 29.

The woman complained about the incident to the revenue department officials in a video interview that took place on May 31. In the interview, the woman told the health officials that her mother-in-law hugged her saying that she should also get infected with COVID-19. She also added that her mother-in-law was upset that she was maintaining a distance with her after she tested positive for coronavirus.

The 20-something woman said she did not allow her two children to go near her mother-in-law and provided her food from a distance, which led the elderly woman to feel discriminated against and thus made her upset.

The further claimed that her mother-in-law then suddenly hugged her saying, "Do all of you want to live happily when I die?" Officials said that she had the obvious intention that the daughter-in-law should also be affected with COVID-19. The daughter-in-law is currently in home isolation at her sister's house and is under treatment.

Two revenue officers visited the house of the daughter-in-law and provided her with the medication for COVID treatment. The officials also said that they are ready to take the woman's complaint.

According to one of the officials, the woman would be guided on the steps that she should take if she intends to pursue a case against her mother-in-law.
