Penis size have always been a matter of concern among men. It is something that can change their entire image in the society and can make them a subject of mockery. If its big, its a thing to boast about, if its not its something to be ashamed of. These toxic and problematic standards of society have made a biological trait a measure of 'masculinity' which is absurd but sadly, still exists in the society. That is the reason why when the news of a study stating that the average penis size has increased about 24% came out, the male community rejoiced. However, scientists say that this might be an issue to worry about.

Study on penis size

The study was recently published in The World's Journal of Men's Health and the study focused on the trends over the last 29 years, from 1942 to 2021. The study consisted of data collected 75 different studies conducted on about 56,000 men over the years and came to a conclusion that average penis size increased by 24%. However, lead author and professor of urology at Stanford Medicine, Dr. Michael Eisenberg, reportedly said in a press release that the doctors expected a decline in the size in accordance with the decline in men's sexual health over the decades.

Over the past decades, the environmental pressure, changes in lifestyle and increased exposure to chemicals and pesticides has affected the sexual and hormonal health of men majorly. "Any overall change in development is concerning, because our reproductive system is one of the most important pieces of human biology," said Dr. Eisenberg. And this study shows a contradictory result and is concerning the researchers that of the sperm count and fertility has declined over the decades, why has penis size increased.

Queen’s University Belfast's Sheena Lewis said, "We give men such bad press all the time and the one thing that scares them is that size matters." The study should not be taken as a stereotypical achievement among men but people should focus on the broader prospective and the possible threat it might be posing to sexual health of men.
