SRK Nails his Maiden TED Talk!

When Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is on stage, people listen. On April 28, he dazzled what is arguably the world's toughest stage -- the annual TED conference and nailed it. No matter how big a geek or a movie buff, you are – you can’t not love him for his charm!

There’s some spark in SRK when he walks in a room, or he simply aces it with his powerful appearance. At the TED Talks, in Vancouver, Canada, it was no difference.

Bollywood Life reported the man of the hour as the funniest Tedx speaker of this edition. We definitely agree! What else, the irresistible persona even grooved on his popular track 'Lungi Dance' from Chennai Express and wooed everyone.

Host Chris Anderson called him up on the stage referring as the ''Renaissance man''. King Khan is often known for his wit and liberate ideologies, mixed these two ingredients perfectly and delivered TED's customary talk with quintessence. With a pinch of zest, his witticism floored the audience in his first address and the TED2017 went on to become a memorable day forever.

Here are five takeaways: One wouldn't be this comfortable, unless one is SRK!

SRK openly calls himself the dream seller and for that reason alone, millions around the world love him. “I sell dreams, and I peddle love to millions of people... I’ve been made to understand there are lots of you here who have never seen my work, and I feel really sad for you. That doesn’t take away from the fact that I’m completely self-obsessed, as a movie star should be,” TED blog quoted Shah Rukh saying.

Yet after so many years, he is prone to sell love more and more because according to him, that’s the one simplest yet greatest emotion mankind knows. “I’ve learned that whatever moves you, whatever urges you to create, build, whatever keeps you from failing, whatever helps you survive, is perhaps the oldest and the simplest emotion known to the mankind, and that is love,” Khan said.

Khan became the first Indian actor to deliver a TED Talk.  According to him, “Humanity is a lot like me. It’s an ageing movie star, grappling with all the newness around it, wondering whether it got it right, in the first place and still trying to find a way to keep on shining regardless,” he said.

And, yes, he spoke about facing never-ending controversies too. “Everything I said ,took a new meaning; everything I did good, bad, ugly, was there for the world to comment upon and judge... I started to feel that I couldn’t be who I wanted to be or say what I actually thought. We had expected an expansion of ideas and dreams; we had not bargained for the enclosure of judgement.”

The actor explained his option about faith. “You may use your power to build walls and keep people outside. Or you may use it to break barriers and welcome them in. You may use your faith to make people afraid and terrify them into submission. Or you can use it to give courage to people, so they rise to the greatest heights of enlightenment.”

Shah Rukh Khan is coming back on Indian television -- on Star TV later this year -- where he’d be seen hosting TED Talks’ format in the Hindi version, titled TED Talks India: Nayi Soch.
