Another case of rape by sabotaging drinks came to light in Delhi. The three men allegedly rape a 32-year-old woman at a hotel in northwest Delhi's Adarsh Nagar.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Usha Rangnani claimed the complaint was made through a PCR call regarding the incident at Adarsh Nagar police station on 9 October, Sunday. The police official also said that all accused in the case- Ajay, 39, Tara Chand, 34, and Naresh, 38 are natives of Rajasthan's Alwar and have been arrested. Survivor in a statement reportedly stated that she was invited by her acquaintance Ajay, where two of his friends were also present.
Spiked Drink Delhi Rape Case
The accused offered her a spiked drink and she became unconscious after drinking it. Following this, the trio allegedly raped the woman, the police said based on the survivor's complaint. Police registered a case under sections 376 D (gang rape), 377 (unnatural offences), and 328 (Causing hurt using poison) of the Indian Penal Code based on the woman's statement and the medico-legal case (MLC) report. The police are investigating the case and a crime team collected samples from the hotel.
Spiked Drink and Rape or assault are common ways of committing violence against women. Adarsh Nagar Case is not the first one, here are a few similar incidents from the past.
A 17-year-old girl from Faridabad, Haryana was allegedly raped by a man twice in Uttarakhand’s Roorkee. The duo met near a temple in Bahadrabad, where the accused offered her a spiked soft drink and took her to a guest house in Kaliyar, and raped her.
A woman accused her friend of raping her in a car after offering her a spiked drink. The woman alleged that her friend first took her out and drove between Vikaspuri and Janakpuri. On travel offered a soft drink laced with sedatives after which the accused took advantage of her unconscious state and raped her.
