South Korean YouTuber Harassed In Mumbai

A video was shared online while two men were streaming as they met Hyojoeng who goes by the name Mhyochi in Khar, Mumbai. The video clearly shows that the men were dragging her by her hand as she continuously refused. There was initially only one man who approached her and after refusal, he came back again with a friend. Reports say that the two men have been arrested and the police have registered a sexual assault case based on the shared video. Mhyochi responded to one tweet that contained the video, she wrote, "Last night on stream, there was a guy who harassed me. I tried my best not to escalate the situation and leave because he was with his friend. And some people said that it was initiated by me being too friendly and engaging the conversation. Makes me think again about streaming."

Elephant Lakshmi Died In Puducherry

The Sri Manakula Vinayakar temple elephant in Puducherry passed away when she had gone out for a morning stroll. The 32-year-old elephant collapsed allegedly due to a heart attack. She was accompanied by her mahouts yesterday morning and once she fell to the ground, did not respond to the call of the mahouts which was very unusual and soon she couldn't move anymore. The authorities used a crane to lift the body and bring it near the temple for the devotee to pay their homage and bid her a final goodbye.

Kerala HC Displeased Over Curfew On Female Students of Kozhikode College

A curfew was given to the female students of the Kozhikode Medical College as the authorities asked them to return to the hostel by 9:30 pm. Five MBBS students from the college and office-bearers of the college union filed a plea to the court against such measurements pointing out that the male students were not given any such curfew. According to reports, the Kerala HC has expressed resentment toward the imposition and called it patriarchal in the name of protection. The court stated, "In the modern times, any patriarchism — even in the guise of offering protection based on gender — would have to be frowned upon because girls, as much as boys, are fully capable of taking care of themselves; and if not, it must be the endeavour of the State and the Public Authorities to make them so competent, rather than being locked in."

Bilkis Bano Challenges SC For Early Release Of Rape Convicts

Bilkis Bano has challenged the Supreme Court of India for releasing the 11 convicts on August 15 before they completed their jail term for raping her and murdering her family in the Gujarat Riots of 2022. Bano claims that it should have been the Maharashtra government and not the Gujarat government to decide about the remission of the convicts. In her review plea, Bano pointed out that the remission was done based on 1992 Remission rules instead of 2014's.

Mohan Kapur Accused Of Sexual Harassment

A woman has shared her story on Twitter where she alleges that actor Mohan Kapur took advantage of her. She wrote, "When I was 14 years old, I was a fan of this serial actress & we became friends. Her partner at that time Mohan Kapur also became friends with me. I respected both of them almost like 2nd parents, & told them about my stressful life. But Mohan Kapur took advantage of me." She continues to describe more horrific details of her experience where Kapur sent inappropriate photos to her along with messages. She also said that Kapur's partner knew about this but chose not to help her. The survivor mentions how badly this incident affected her mental health, to the point where she thought of ending her life. She spoke to Kapur recently to ask for an apology but he allegedly did not agree to do it. Read more here.
