This happened when she and her husband visited the queen after her husband Prince Philip passed away a day before at the age of 99. As she left the Windsor castle, she told the reporters that "the Queen has been amazing".

Countess of Wessex visited Windsor castle

The Countess of Wessex was seen leaving the palace with her husband Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex in their Land Rover. They did speak to the reporters as they were leaving from the castle. They had spent more than our hour in the castle.

The Queen's other two sons Prince Charles and Prince Andrew had also arrived at the castle to mourn for their father's death. Their visits came at a time when 41 gun salutes were fired across Great Britain, one for each day, starting from midday.

Gun salutes will also be fired in in Gibraltar and from Royal Navy warships, the Ministry of Defence said.

Prince Philip's coffin will be placed in the Royal Vault at St George’s Chapel until the time when the Queen passes. Both of them will then be buried together in the memorial chapel.

Before the Duke of Edinburgh is laid to rest, his body will be examined by a member of the Medical Household.

He will then be placed in a coffin, and taken to the St George's Chapel. This will be done so that the members of the royal family and other guests can pay homage to him. He will then be taken to the royal grounds at Frogmore Gardens.
