Natasa Pirc Musar has been elected as president of Slovenia. Musar ran as an independent and has been backed by Slovenia's center-left government.
She defeated Logar by quite a margin to rein Slovenia. Musar won 54% of the vote keeping her ahead of conservative veteran Anže Logar, who received 46.1%, as per the election commission. Musar, a journalist and lawyer by profession became the first-ever female head of state.

After her victory, in a speech Musar said, "Slovenia has elected a president who believes in the European Union, in the democratic values on which the EU was founded. She noted that the world is "facing tough times because of climate change". Young people are now putting the responsibility on our political shoulders to take care of our planet so that our next generation, our children, will live in a healthy and clean environment."
Musar's role as president will also include commander-in-chief of the armed forces and nominate several top officials, including the central bank governor.
Musar has previously worked with former US first lady Melania Trump. She was hired to protect the interests of Mrs. Trump, who was born in Slovenia, during her spouse's presidency. Pirc Musar and her client Melania Trump filed a lawsuit against Suzy magazine in Slovenia for reportedly assassinating the character of Trump. The magazine alleged that Trump was working as a high-end escort while pursuing her international modelling career.
Musar also served as a presenter on Slovenia’s main news programme. Ljubljana-born Pirc Musar took additional journalistic training at CNN and Salford University’s media department. Before that, she completed her Ph.D. in law at Vienna University. In 2004, she was elected as Slovenia’s commissioner for access to public information.
