Eight people, including a 12-year-old girl, were shot in Southeast Washington, DC, and sent to the hospital. On Friday, police rushed to the scene of the shooting and cordoned off the area as they looked for the as-yet-unapprehended assailant.
In two back-to-back gunshots in Washington, DC, on Friday night, eight people were wounded, including a 12-year-old girl. The police are looking into a possible connection between the crimes.
According to police, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department reacted to gunshots heard in the southwest corner of the area at 10:00 p.m. ET. Seven individuals had non-life-threatening gunshot wounds when police arrived, they discovered.
Although it was not immediately clear how each victim was faring, at least one of them had serious injuries. Police reported that four patients were taken to the hospital by DC Fire and EMS and that further casualties were being sent to trauma centers. According to officials, the majority of the injured traveled alone to a nearby hospital.

The police received a report about a second incident nearby as they were looking into the shooting. Officers found a 12-year-old girl who had been shot when they arrived. The girl is in stable condition, and the authorities say her wounds are not life-threatening.
Both shooting scenes included numerous shell casings, and police are now appealing for assistance in locating a black car, "possibly a Mercedes," that witnesses saw driving through the neighborhood while "indiscriminately" firing at victims at the first shooting scene. According to the authorities, they are currently looking into what caused the second shooting.

Andre Wright, an assistant chief at the department said, “We are investigating the scenes as being connected." There's a chance they're not. However, he believes that the two scenes are probably connected given the circumstances and the proximity of the occurrence.
He added that investigators and police officers are out door-knocking while the investigations are ongoing and include several victims. A later follow-up will be made as new information becomes available. Anyone with knowledge is asked to get in touch with the police.
