Scarlett Johansson Dedicates Award To The Armed Forces
Scarlett Johansson, arguably the world’s highest-paid actress, has won the People’s Choices Awards Female Movie Star of 2018 for her role in Avengers: Infinity War. At the awards on Sunday night, she dedicated to the armed forces who put their lives in danger and protect people.
“I love my job because it not only allows me to connect with myself, but it allows me to connect with the audience, and so I really dedicate this to all of you and I also dedicate this to the men and women of the Armed Forces who put their lives on the line every day so that we don’t have to. Thank you, thank you, thank you very much,” the 33-year-old said while accepting her award for her role as Black Widow in the blockbuster superhero film.
The actor has her eighth appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with this movie. She will also be seen as Romanoff in next year’s Avengers 4 before getting her first solo flick — Black Widow, presumably set to be released in 2020.
During her acceptance speech, Scarlett also thanked her fans for their support. Earlier, Infinity War director Joe Russo took to the Happy Sad Confused podcast and praised the portrayal of Romanoff. “Yeah, we’re very happy for that. I mean it’s such a rich and interesting character,” Joe Russo said. “There’s so much to explore with a character whose history was as a villain, and you know, Scarlett does such a good job of playing that character and people are so used to that character that you forget the character’s history, and so there’s a lot of compelling stories to tell about someone who has a dark past.”
For the Black Widow movie, Scarlett is finally getting paid $15 million, same as what Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth each earned for playing Captain America and Thor. More power to her!
