SC On Army Women Officers' Promotion

Last month, 34 women officers of the Indian Army approached the Supreme Court and claimed that women officers were not being considered for promotions. They added that the students they had taught were promoted above them.

A Supreme Court bench directed the Indian Army to halt giving placements to the male officers who were promoted in October until the issue was cleared.

The bench remarked, "We feel like you have not been fair to these women officers. We will have to pass peremptory orders... you must get your house in order".

Jilted Lover Kidnaps Woman Hours Before Her Engagement

A 24-year-old woman was kidnapped from her home in Hyderabad hours before her engagement. Reportedly, a group of people arrived in a convoy of cars and a truck and barged into the woman's house.

The woman's jilted lover allegedly kidnapped the woman and the group also attacked the relatives who attempted to intervene. The police rescued the woman within six hours and arrested the accused.

Women Constitute 13.69 Percent Of The Indian Air Force

The Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt revealed that around 13.69 percent of the workforce in the Indian Air Force (IAF) excluding its medical branch are women. This makes it the highest among all three services of the Indian armed forces.

Women comprise 6 percent of the Indian Navy's workforce and 3.97 percent of the Indian Army.

The minister said, "Women officers are inducted in all branches and streams of IAF".

Bharatiya Janta Party's Payal Kukarani is the youngest candidate of the party in the Gujarat election. She is the daughter of Manoj Kukarni, one of the 16 convicts in the Naroda Patiya riots case.

She emerged as the winner of Gujarat's Naroda constituency. The results revealed that she won by a margin of more than 83 thousand votes.
