Acting and singing star from Saudi, Areej Abdullah, was reportedly found dead at her home in Cairo, Egypt over the weekend. She was 24. Her body was discovered on Sunday by her domestic helper who found Abdullah in bed and not breathing. The actor died of natural causes and permission has been given to transport her body back to her home country of Saudi Arabia.
Police reached the scene after Abdullah's domestic helper alerted them. Preliminary investigation cancelled out foul play, as per reports.
Forensic reports indicated Abdullah had died of a pulmonary embolism in her sleep, Gulf News reports. A pulmonary embolism occurs when arteries in the lungs face blockage due to blood clots. Shortness of breath and chest pain are major symptoms. Since the lung blockage impacts oxygen flow, prompt treatment is necessary in cases of pulmonary embolism to avoid serious issues or fatality.
Some reports suggest Abdullah was in poor health in the days preceding her death.

Abdullah was also a motivational speaker and was considered a fashion and beauty icon by many. She notably held interest in and advocated for women's rights. She was a rising singer and had released many singles during her short music career. As per local reports, prior to her death, she told fans she would release another single soon.
She was the daughter of Abdullah Muhammad, a prominent singer best known for being the first to sing internationally beyond the borders of Saudi Arabia. In interviews, as per reports, Abdullah referred to her father as a "pioneer" of his generation.
On the internet, fans and some of Abdullah's peers from the entertainment industry are mourning her sudden, untimely death. Though she had limited reach on social media, Abdullah was known for interacting with fans freely.
