Sanna Marin, the prime minister of Finland, is dealing with criticism after a leaked video of her partying surfaced on social media on Wednesday. In the video, Marin can be seen singing and dancing along to songs by the pop singer Antti Tuisku and the Finnish rapper Petri Nygrd while enjoying a drink with some pals.

According to news.com.au, the video appears to be from Instagram stories. The Iltalehti newspaper reported that it also features a number of well-known Finns, including the singer Alma, the influencer Janita Autio, the TV host Tinni Wikström, the YouTuber Ilona Ylikorpi, the radio host Karoliina Tuominen, the stylist Vesa Silver, and the MP Ilmari Nurminen from Marin's Social Democratic Party.

The videos have prompted a range of responses online, with some criticising Marin for what they see to be reckless behaviour and others seeing a potential boost to the 36-year-old prime minister's popularity.

- According to Finnish media, the leaked video shows Marin dancing with numerous friends. The video was shared in many clips on Instagram Stories.

- Marin stated that she had "nothing to conceal or hide" during a press appearance on Thursday morning, denying that she had ever used drugs. The prime minister said, "I have danced, sang, celebrated, and done lawful things." Marin clarified that she hadn't been drinking excessively. She attacked the leaker as well. She added, "I believed they wouldn't be publicised because the recordings are private and were released at a private event. The fact that they were published "feels awful."

- However, this is not the first time the prime minister has faced criticism for partying. Last year, Marin faced criticism for attending a nightclub party even though she was aware that she had interacted with Pekka Haavisto, the foreign minister, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 in December.

- After photos of Marin dancing with friends till around 4 am were published by Seiska, an entertainment magazine, drawing criticism, Marin wrote a lengthy apology on Facebook and stated that she was "really sorry" for her actions.
