And they did it! India’s Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova smashed a straight sets win over China’s Chen Liang and Zhaoxuan Yang 6-1, 6-1 in the final, and with this triumph the duo clinched the titles of the women’s doubles at Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, the second seeds Sania and Strycova defeated the unseeded pair of Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Spain’s Maria Jose Martina Sanchez in semi-finals in Tokyo. Getting stronger with every game, the duo demolished their opponents in the final in no time.

The pair has had a good run, having beaten Misaki Doi  and Kurumi Nara 6-7 (3), 7-5, 10-8 in the first round of the women’s doubles event, won over Martina Hingis and Coco Vandeweghe 7-5, 6-4 in the final of Cincinnati Open last month, and  also had played one Grand Slam together, entering the quarter-finals of the US Open last month but unfortunately were defeated.
