Robot Named Ai-Da Paints Portrait Of Queen Elizabeth II To Celebrate Platinum Jubilee

Ultra-realistic humanoid AI robot artist Ai-Da painted a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to celebrate her 70 years of rule.

Robot Ai-Da the artist painted a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to celebrate 70-year anniversary of her accession to the throne, also called the Platinum Jubilee. Robot Ai-Da posted a reel on her Instagram account displaying her portrait of Queen Elizabeth II titled ‘Algorithm Queen’. In the reel, she said the following “I’d like to thank Her Majesty the Queen for her dedication, and for the service she gives to so many people”.

Ai-Da described Queen Elizabeth as “outstanding”, and “courageous”, and said she was “utterly committed to public service". Ai-Da stated that “I like to paint and I hope she likes this portrait. I think she’s an amazing human being, and I wish The Queen a very happy Platinum Jubilee.”

Ai-Da’s painting of the Queen marked the first time in history a humanoid robot has done artwork of a member of the Royal Family.

According to Ai-Da’s creators, she is named after Ada Lovelace, the 19th-century mathematician and is the world’s first ultra-realistic humanoid AI robot artist that is capable of drawing people from life.

Robot Ai-Da draws using the cameras in her eyes, AI algorithms, and a robotic arm. She was created in February 2019. Ai-Da’s first solo show was at the University of Oxford. Her art aimed to make the audience think about the rapidly changing world. In 2021, Ai-Da had her first show in a major museum, the Design Museum.

Queen Elizabeth succeeded her father, King George VI in 1952 at the age of 25 and has become the first monarch in the nation’s history to celebrate 70 years of rule, also called a Platinum Jubilee. Britain will be seeing parades, street parties, and concerts until Sunday, June 5 and the entire country has been given a holiday for four days until then.

The Platinum Jubilee celebrations began with a birthday parade known as Trooping the Colour. Queen Elizabeth appeared on the balcony of the Buckingham Palace alongside the Duke of Kent following the Trooping the Colours ceremony.

Queen Elizabeth then appeared on the balcony of the Buckingham Palace once again alongside the royal family for a Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force flypast over the Buckingham Palace.
