Representatives for Stevenson confirmed that he passed away on Sunday, just four days before his birthday. Reports from the Italian newspaper La Repubblica indicate that he had been hospitalised due to a sudden illness while filming Cassino on the picturesque island of Ischia.

The untimely demise of this remarkable actor has deeply saddened the entertainment industry, with numerous individuals paying heartfelt tributes. Among them is SS Rajamouli, the director of RRR, who expressed his disbelief and shared fond memories of working with Stevenson.

Rajamouli praised the energy and vitality Ray Stevenson brought to the set, describing the experience as pure joy. He extended his prayers and sympathies to Stevenson's family, hoping for the eternal repose of his soul.

Born on May 25, 1964, in Northern Ireland, Ray Stevenson began his acting career in the 1990s with appearances in television shows before transitioning to action-packed roles in Hollywood films during the 2000s. His breakthrough came in 2004 when he portrayed Dagonet, one of the Knights of the Round Table, in Antoine Fuqua's adventure film King Arthur.

Stevenson's exceptional skill and adaptability allowed him to shine in significant characters, including the leading role of the mercenary in Punisher: War Zone (2008), as well as memorable appearances in films like The Three Musketeers, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, The Book of Eli, and various well-known franchises like Marvel's Thor and Lionsgate's Divergent adaptation.

Stevenson made his mark in South Asian cinema with the release of RRR, which captivated audiences worldwide. Stevenson's portrayal of Scott Buxton, the treacherous governor of the British Raj who abducts a child, garnered critical acclaim.

Despite his on-screen success, Stevenson also contributed to the Star Wars franchise, lending his voice to a villainous character in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Additionally, he completed filming for the Disney Plus series Ahsoka, set to premiere in August.
