Just days after their grand wedding celebrations, actors Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda have turned the spotlight toward something bigger than festivities. The newlyweds visited Vijay’s hometown of Thummanpet in Telangana and announced a scholarship initiative for students studying in government schools across the Achampet division of Nagarkurnool district.
The announcement quickly drew heartfelt reactions from fans across the country.
A Promise to Support Young Minds
Through the Deverakonda Charitable Trust, scholarships will be awarded to first- and second-rank holders in Classes 9 and 10 at 44 government schools in the region.
Addressing villagers in Telugu, Vijay said, “Scholarships will be given to the top performers, first, and second rank holders... I have a house and land in my hometown and will come to the village regularly from now on.”
He explained that the goal is to support students who are working hard but facing financial challenges and to encourage them to continue their studies at a crucial stage in their academic journey.
New Chapter, New Cause
Rashmika and Vijay tied the knot on February 26 in Udaipur in the presence of close family and friends. The celebrations blended cultures with a traditional Telugu wedding in the morning and a Kodava ceremony in the evening.
Shortly after the grand festivities, the couple travelled to Thummanpet in Telangana to announce the scholarship initiative, turning a personal celebration into a moment of social commitment.
Social media has since been flooded with praise. Many fans noted that, beyond the glamour of their wedding, the couple chose to mark the beginning of their married life with a meaningful initiative to support education and give back to the community.
The couple will next be seen together in their upcoming film Ranabaali, marking their third collaboration after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade.
