Varsha Deshpande, who started the Lek Ladki Abhiyan, told Times of India, that no shelter homes follow a standard operating procedure (SOP). Due to this reason, not even one percent of sexual harassment cases from shelter homes come out. This, she says, is because most of these shelter homes are operated by party workers. And also, when she approached the government for the same, she got no positive reply. "Even the money allotted for the well being of these shelter homes are eaten up. At present, I have got at least five sexual harassment cases from shelter homes across Maharashtra," she added.
