Twitter Applauds Priyanka Mohite India's First Woman To Scale Mt Annapurna

Priyanka Mohite has also climbed Mt Everest in 2013 and Mt Lhotse in 2018. She was at the age of 21 when she ascended Everest, making her the third-youngest Indian to do so.

Priyanka Mohite, the 26-year-old mountaineer who also holds the record of scaling the world's fifth-largest mountain, has once again made the headlines by becoming the country's first female to scale Mt Annapurna.

Mohite became the first Indian woman to scale the tenth-largest mountain in the world on April 16, Friday.

Apart from her previous record of scaling Mt Makalu, the world's fifth highest mountain in 2019, Mohite has also climbed Mt Everest in 2013 and Mt Lhotse in 2018. At the age of 21 when she ascended Mt Everest, making her the third-youngest Indian to do so.

Twitter Applauds The 26-Year-Old Mountaineer

The founder and chairperson of Biocon, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw took to her Twitter to congratulate the young mountaineer. She tweeted "Our colleague Priyanka Mohite scaled the peak of Mt. Annapurna, (8091 meters) 10th highest mountain in the world, on 16th April 2021 at 1.30 pm.- first Indian woman to do so! We at ⁦@SyngeneIntl are so very proud of her." Mohite responded to the tweet by writing "Thank You So Much For Your Support, Ma'am."

Other netizens too congratulated Mohite on her achievement and tweeted words of praise for her. One of them read, "Congratulations .... Priyanka Mohite... we need more positive and celebratory news like this." Furthermore, Everest Today tweeted "Congratulations to Priyanka Mangesh Mohite, the first Indian woman on the summit of Annapurna I (8091 m), the 10th highest mountain on planet earth," which Mohite retweeted on her account.

Earlier, Mohite Joined with SheThePeople.TV for an interview, in which she shared her highs and lows of her climb.

An excerpt from the interview quotes Mohite saying, "Every mountain teaches me a lot. The basic things I’ve learnt are discipline, time management, risk management, team spirit, dedication, being humble, so many things which I apply in my day-to-day life too."

When asked about the current scenario of mountain climbing as a passion for women, she said, "Nowadays women climb and we slay at it too. In small cities, people are not aware of mountaineering and on top of that, they lack family support. For it to be taken up as a career you need physical fitness as well as financial support too. Climbing above 8000m takes a lot of money. Today, even for me it’s hard to get by sometimes."
