Pregnant Dalit Woman Abducted, Raped: A Dalit family, including a pregnant woman, her two children and her mother-in-law were allegedly abducted and thrashed in Bhopal on May 22.
The pregnant Dalit woman was tortured for four days and allegedly raped after her husband refused to cut a tree at the accused’s lawn, police said.

-The pregnant Dalit woman, her two children and mother-in-law were abducted and tortured for four days after her husband refused to cut a tree at the farm of the accused.
-The incident took place in Chhatarpur district, 350 km from state capital Bhopal.
-The victims were rescued after a local journalist informed the police.
-The suspect of the crime, who is described to be a “village muscleman”, was arrested on May 27. However, his two accomplices are at large.
-The three accused have been charged under sections of causing hurt, kidnapping, obscenity and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocity) Act.
-The survivor reportedly said the information about abduction and rape was allegedly skipped in the First Information Report.
-Sachin Sharma, superintendent of police Chhatarpur, said, “She didn’t inform us about any sexual assault but if she is saying, we will add the section of rape in the FIR”.
-Rajnagar police station in charge Pankaj Sharma revealed that the prime suspect had summoned a Dalit man to his farm to cut some trees. When he refused the 32-year-old labourer was beaten up.
- Sachin Sharma further mentioned that the accused reached the "labourer’s house and beat his pregnant wife, two kids and mother".
-The superintendent of police also mentioned that the victims were admitted to a local hospital after the incident.
