The actress is best known for her debut role as Preeti Sabarwal in the Bollywood movie, Chak De! India. She took to her Instagram account to announce the arrival of a woman footballer in saree, and we are instantly hooked. Let’s get together and also cheer the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup teams and watch them play live on @spnsportsindia

The upcoming movie was announced last year and the Marathi mulgi Sagarika was often seen getting into the character by playing football, dressed in a saree and shoes. In the film the actress will be seen leading a football team. The sports-based film Monsoon Football is based on the lives of a couple of housewives who joined hands to form a football team.

Posters like this make us decide whether it is worth a watch, whether there is also a story worth listening to. Being a head over heels filmy girl, let’s be honest here and say that people judge the movie by the poster. And in Bollywood especially, the poster transformation—from hand-painted to digital—has its own history. Let's take a look at the four most intriguing women-centric movie posters.

Saand Ki Aankh

This was another real-life women-centric story to hit the screen on Diwali this year. It’s brand new poster released two months back made us wonder more about the protagonists—the 87-year-old sharpshooter Chandro Tomar. Commonly known as Shooter Dadi and her 82-year-old sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar, will be portrayed by actresses Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar.

Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, Saand Ki Aankh chronicles the story of India’s oldest sharpshooters, who began sharpshooting in their fifties.

Chhapaak

Another powerful woman character which is set to break the stereotypes is Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak is the story of an acid-attack survivor who is the epitome of undying human spirit. The film reflects on the journey of the burning desire after the acid attacks rather than portraying the culture notion of victim-blaming. The poster represents the nature of the film.

Gotta admit, Richa Chadha, who is known for her choice of critically acclaimed roles, is looking jaw-dropping gorgeous in the first look of her film Shakeela. She is essaying the role of Shakeela Khan. Richa is all set to portray the South film star, Shakeela, who was tagged as an adult film star in the late 90s, in the upcoming biopic. Helmed by the award-winning director Indrajit Lankesh, the film will tell the story of an actor, who broke all norms during her time in a male-dominated business.

Dolly, Kitty, Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare

Konkona Sen Sharma and Alankrita Shrivastava are pairing again for an upcoming comical satire Dolly, Kitty, Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare. The Lipstick Under My Burkha fame director is bringing back her bold charm in the movie which also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Kubbra Sait and Vikrant Massey.

We are waiting for all the above to hit the screens. What are the films you’re waiting for? Share in the comment section below:
