18 years ago, the girl was found with her baby brother. They were brought to an orphanage in Badlapur. Padma Gudhe, superintendent at the Bombay Teen Challenge orphanage, said that she always showed exemplary performance at studies and always wanted to be a doctor. She was happy that she worked hard to materialise her dream and surprised everyone.

Shabana, who aspires to study gynaecology, also mentioned that the trustees of the orphanage provided her with all the study material required to ace the exams. The girl also added that she has no clue about her biological family. She, however, didn't waste time looking back and is focussed on creating a better future for herself and the orphanage, as per a report.

Another such heart-warming story is of Kerala orphan Gopika G who aced her plus two exams last year. She had lost her parents in 2020 to a tragic landslide that hit layams (line houses) of plantation workers in Pettimudi in Kerala’s Idukki district.

The meritorious girl aspires to be a doctor and is preparing for NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) to fulfil her dream. She also credits the support of friends and other known ones who helped her cope with the trauma. Last year, M Krishnaveni became the first person in her village in Irulapatti to pass Class 12 board exams. She belongs to a tribal community in Tamil Nadu. She secured 295 marks out of 600. She also became the the first person from her village to pursue higher studies. She wanted to crack civil service examination.
