Noida Woman Manhandles Guard, Arrested: 10 Things About The Case

A Noida woman was arrested after a video of her altercation with a security guard of her residential society went viral. The woman was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Sunday for misbehaving with the security personnel.

The 32-year-old, named Bhavya Rai, hurled expletives, threatened, and manhandled the residential society's security guard. Karan Chaudhary, another security guard who filmed the entire incident said that Rai was trying to leave the society and got enraged after there was a delay in opening the gate.

The police registered a case against Rai based on Chaudhary’s complaint and she was arrested. Rai was charged with Indian Penal Code section 153A (acts prejudicial to harmony), section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), section 503 (intentional insult to provoke breach of public peace), and section 506 (criminal intimidation).

• Bhavya Rai was arrested in Gautam Budh Nagar near Delhi after she abused her residential society’s security guard.
• The woman was exiting Jaypee Wishton society in Noida’s Sector 126 when the altercation took place.
• A guard named Karan Chaudhary made the video and submitted it to the police. Reportedly, a security guard was late in opening the gate and Rai got out of her vehicle and began abusing him.
• Chaudhary rushed to the gate, took a video of the altercation, and showed it to his senior. He filed a complaint against Rai and the police arrested her.
• Reportedly, the security guards have to note down the license plate numbers when cars make an entry or exit. This led to a delay in opening the society gates, which seemed to have upset Rai.
• As per society secretary Ankit Kuchhal, the woman in question had moved to the housing society in May 2022. Rai is a lawyer by profession.
• Treasurer of the society, Anshu Gupta said that preparations were underway to vacate her flat. The owner of the flat where she lives is cooperating with police officials regarding the same.
• Gupta added, “It looked as if she was drunk. After the incident, we are preparing to evict her from society by informing the house owner about the incident."
• Senior police officer Bharti Singh said, “A woman named Bhavya Rai was caught on video abusing and misbehaving with security personnel of the society. Police registered a case based on the complaint of the security guard”.
• Rai’s vehicle was brought to the police station and she was arrested and sent to 14-day judicial custody.
