On September 6, 2019, the Grammy-nominated rapper Nicki Minaj denied her own tweet about retirement from the music industry and called it an ‘abrupt’ announcement. She further says that she will explain her decision of the announcement later.

The 'abrupt' retirement announcement

On Thursday, twitter was brimming with the shock responses of fans as Nicki Minaj announced her retirement in a tweet. The 36-year-old rapper, who has also appeared in Hollywood movies and runs her own Radio show suddenly tweeted about her retirement. The tweet read,

“I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me,  in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me.  Love you for LIFE"

Nicki Minaj and her boyfriend Kenneth “Zoo” Petty, 41 are speculated to have secretly married. However, Minaj says that she is planning to get married and wedding bells would be ringing soon. Expressing her happiness with marriage, Minaj said on Queens Radio, “We did get our marriage license. I think I have what I was striving for, just happiness. It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there, I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.”

The retirement announcement that followed these changes in her personal life was not hard to believe. She has always wanted to have a family. Besides, she wanted to open the doors for other female rappers to take the centre stage, and accordingly, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have become popular female rappers. Last month, Minaj appeared in Stallion’s song “Hot Girl Summer”.

Minaj denies the retirement, calls it insensitive and abrupt

After her announcement of retirement, the fans were surprised and shocked. One of the fans tweeted, “Can u please just address this retirement thing, You … never left us so hurt your entire career. We’re just hurting Nicki.”

Minaj replied to tweet denying her retirement and said, " I’m still right here. Still madly in love with you guys & you know that. In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion & it will be. I promise u guys will be happy. No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt & insensitive, I apologize babe”

Nicki Minaj had even confirmed in her June appearance at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that she is working on an album which will be released soon but did not reveal the date. Surely, there is more hit and badass raps on the way by the bold “Super Bass” rapper Nicki Minaj.
