Who Was Sita Dahal? Nepal PM Prachanda's Wife Passes Away

Nepal prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's wife Sita Dahal passed away on Wednesday. Dahal suffered from cardiac arrest following a prolonged illness of progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).

Nepal prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's wife Sita Dahal passed away on Wednesday. Dahal suffered from cardiac arrest following a prolonged illness of progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).

PSP is a rare neurological disorder also known as Parkinson’s disease. Sita Dahal was admitted to Norvic Hospital in Kathmandu after feeling unwell. 

ANI shared a doctor's statement. The statement mentioned that Sita Dahal suffered cardiac arrest at 8 am and was declared dead at 8.33 am. Further, the statement read- Despite resuscitation, the doctors could not revive her.

Who is Sita Dahal? 

The 69-year-old was taken to several hospitals in India and Nepal, but her condition did not improve. The last rites of Sita Dahal will be performed at Aryaghat, Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu. 

Tribute: 

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his sincere condolences through Twitter. He expressed how saddened he was to learn about Sita Dahal’s demise and prayed that the departed soul find eternal peace.

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli visited the family to express his condolences. He also expressed his condolences on Twitter to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and the entire family.



The Rashtriya Swatantra Party issued a statement expressing their deepest condolences. The entire RSP family expressed their wish for eternal peace for her soul and wished strength for the bereaved family members.

The US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean R. Thompson, also took to Twitter to express his deep condolences. He wrote that their thoughts were with the Nepal PM and his family.



The head of the BJP's foreign affairs department, Vijay Chauthaiwale, expressed his condolences on Twitter. He wished for the eternal peace of the departed soul and strength for the family to face this tragedy.
