Aung San Suu Kyi: Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of Myanmar, was charged with minor offences.

According to the police papers released, the military has charged Suu Kyi of allegedly importing walkie-talkie and handshaking during the pandemic.

As Myanmar military staged a coup to seize the rule,  Suu Kyi was arrested on Monday along with other political leaders. The military claimed that the recent general elections involved voter fraud. The police document which had charges against Suu Kyi stated that she will be detained for another two weeks until the investigation.

The United Nations had called the coup a major setback for the democracy in Myanmar and other international forces have also condemned the act of military. The G7 nations have urged the generals to “restore power to the democratically-elected government release all those unjustly detained”.

The police document claimed to have found illegally imported walkie-talkies after searching Suu Kyi's residence. It said that the hand-held radio devices were used without permission. This has a potential case against Suu Kyi under the import and export laws of Myanmar and the document also charged her of mingling during the pandemic and flouting the guidelines by shaking hands with people.

The President of Myanmar Win Myint was also arrested with Aung San Suu Kyi and the charges against him are under the offences of the natural disaster management law of the country, according to the documents.
