A tea seller’s daughter Madhya Pradesh has been selected in the flying branch of the Indian Air Force. Out of the 6 lakh who applied, only 22 people have been selected. Only five out them are girls. Aanchal Gangwal is the only one from MP.

Who is she?

Aanchal comes from Neemuch district in north-western part of Madhya Pradesh.

In a report by HT, she said, “When I was in class 12, there were floods in Uttarakhand and I was impressed with the way the armed forces rescued the flood affected and decided to join the forces, but the family condition was not conducive at that time.”

Educational Qualifications

She has been hardworking from the very beginning and has completed her schooling from Metro HS School.

Aanchal was the school captain as well as topper in her class. She went on to get a scholarship and graduated from Vikram university, Ujjain. The 5 ft 7 inch tall girl was a part of the Basketball team and 400m race.

A journey filled with hard work

She was looking for a job and started appearing for competitive exams. Aanchal even cleared the police sub-inspector’s exam and joined the training too.  However, she was quick to realise that the tough schedule wouldn’t allow her to do what she wanted to do.

Clearing the admissions to get into Air Force was no cakewalk. It was only on her sixth attempt that she was able to clear it. The results were declared on June 7

Father’s support

Her father, Suresh Gangwal, was supportive of Aanchal’s dream. He didn’t allow his financial condition to hamper the education of his daughter. He took a loan to send her for coaching in Indore and also sent his son to engineering school.

He proudly said, “Now everyone in the area knows about my “Namdev tea stall” and I feel very happy when people come and congratulate me.” He runs a small tea stall at the Neemuch bus stand.

Aanchal has made everyone proud. Congratulatory messages are pouring in for her. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took to Twitter to congratulate her. Woman and Child Development Minister, Archana Chitnis, also visited her.

Aanchal will begin her IAF training in Hyderabad from June 30.

Way to go, girl!
