‘Men are stupider than women’, says study

“Who is smarter- men or women?” We may not find the answer to this question anytime soon. But, the age old battle of the sexes can be seen in a new light now. Research reveals that men are in fact, stupider than women. According to the Telegraph, a research by 20 year study of the Darwin Awards, has found, that more men than women have died because of their of unwise and senseless decisions.

The study states that almost 90 per cent Darwin Awards were 'won' by males. These Awards are an annual review of the most foolish way people have died. Out of the 332 nominations 14 were ruled out because they were shared by both male and females – “usually overly adventurous couples in compromising positions” according to Telegraph.

The researchers believe that men mostly indulged in these fatal activities “in pursuit of male social esteem or solely in exchange for ‘bragging rights’”. Dr Dennis Lendrem from the University of Newcastle, said: "Idiotic risks are defined as senseless risks, where the apparent payoff is negligible or non existent, and the outcome is often extremely negative and often final.”

He added, “According to 'male idiot theory' (MIT) many of the differences in risk seeking behaviour, emergency department admissions, and mortality may be explained by the observation that men are idiots and idiots do stupid things,” reported Telegraph. He also said that one of the reasons for this could be the fact that men feel “bullet-proof” after a few drinks, and women consume alcohol in considerably less quantities.
