Investigating Megan Rapinoe's earning

According to the reports, Rapinoe earns far less than her team-mates Alex Morgan or Julie Ertz even though she is a national treasure and one of her country's veteran players. However, Morgan or Ertz are some of the highest-earning female soccer players, and earn mostly through their various endorsement deals.

The maximum salary in the NWSL (National Women's Soccer League) is $46,200 (£36K) per year, and Rapinoe does not have many commercial or sponsorship deals as other USWNT members. However, she earns a great deal less than Rapinoe's reported $3.5m a year. According to Players Wiki, they estimate that she earns around $168,000 (£133,000) a year.

She is now one of the most recognisable faces worldwide and appeared in television spots and print advertisements for Vitamin Water in 2016, and also featured in a Nike commercial that same year with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sponsorships

Rapinoe has endorsement deals with various brands such as Nike, and has appeared in multiple commercials. She has also signed deals with Samsung, clothing company Wildfang, and has begun a partnership with medical device company DJO Global.
