Meet Sana Ashpak Mulla, The Strongest Woman Of Maharashtra

Talking about her powerlifting journey, she said, "I have been a tomboy since childhood and always dreamt of weightlifting but my family didn't support me much. I started going to the gym and lifted heavy weights. That's when my trainers suggested me to try powerlifting in place of weightlifting as chances of injury were high there. My powerlifting journey started in 2018."

There have been numerous challenges she had to grapple with. For instance, there wasn't proper guidance when she began her journey. She was, once, looted by a trainer which compelled her to use YouTube videos and tutorials for learning. She feels fortunate to be training under Bipin Kamble who is who is associated with the Navi Mumbai Sports Academy as a trainer.

A bit reluctant to offer their support, the family now supports her interests and encourages her to reach more milestones. She also won a Gold medal in Indian powerlifting championship in 2019.

What does she plan for future? Sana shares that she and her husband want her to win Nari Shakti Puraskar. She is also looking forward to achieve 'Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Award’ in senior category. She is also planning to start a personal gym to inspire young children around her. Besides this, she also wishes to help the younger generation collect more points in sports so they can get a secured government job through sports quota.
