Rajasthan girl Tanishka has topped the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) undergraduate 2022 examination results which were declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) late on Wednesday. The exam, which was conducted across the country July 17, witnessed 94.2% attendance this year.
After securing 98.6 per cent marks in class 12 this year, Tanishka chose to enter the medical field as she believes this is a profession in which “you can establish yourself by helping others.” The All India Rank (AIR) 1 holder had scored 96.4 per cent marks in class 10.
Meet NEET-UG 2022 Topper Tanishka
According to Jagran Josh, Tanishka hails from Narnaul, Haryana and moved to Kota, Rajasthan to pursue her studies for NEET UG 2022 Exam. Her parents are government school teachers who Tanishka explains have been a pillar of support in this journey. She further adds that her parents “never pressurised and would always motivate" even when she scored relatively lesser marks in tests.
A strong believer of never giving up, Tanishka used to study by herself for six to seven hours a day. The topper believes every NEET aspirant should prepare for the target from the very first day, and not at the last minute. “As the course progresses in the classroom, you will have to revise the previous studies again and again. You can make small notes topic-wise,” she said. She also added that one should never hesitate to ask questions.
The next journey
After bagging AIR 1 and becoming the NEET Topper 2022 with 99.99 percentile, Tanishka has her eyes set on AIIMS Delhi. Backed by her stellar performance in the NEET UG 2022 Exam, she plans to join AIIMS Delhi - India’s top medical college for MBBS curriculum. The determined student has already identified cardio, neuro or oncology as probable streams that she might be interested in specialising at AIIMS.
This year, four candidates were tied at the top spot with an exact percentile score of 99.9997733. However, unlike last year, the NTA did not jointly award them the first rank. This year, the NTA used its new tie-breaker policy to award the first rank to Tanishka. Vatsa Ashish Batra from Delhi was ranked second, Hrishikesh Nagbhushan Gangule third, and Rucha Pawashe from Karnataka fourth.
