  • The movie's name Bhonga means a loudspeaker. It is named so as the film addresses concerning issues that are in connection to the relationship of the loudspeaker and religion.
  • The film is written and directed by Shivaji Lotan Patil. It is also produced by Patil along with Amol Laxman Kagne and Arun Hiraman Mahajan.
  • Bhonga at the 66th National Film Awards won the Best Marathi Film award in the feature film category. It was going to be released much before but was delayed due to the pandemic. It will now be released on September 24.
  • The 95 minutes feature film addresses important questions like does religion exist for man or does man exist for religion?
  • In the teaser, a family shifts to a house behind the mosque due to financial problems. the family has a baby who is suffering from Cerebral hypoxia, which is a chronic disease of the brain. The baby is often disturbed by the noise coming from the loudspeaker.
  • The loudspeaker which faces the baby's house plays the Aazaan (prayer call of the muslim community) and also the various Kirtans (prayers of the hindu community) from time to time. The baby is disturbed by them and hence cries more rather than eating anything or sleeping peacefully. The baby's parents request the mosque and the temple to change the direction of the loudspeaker.
  • Hearing the baby's problems, some people deem that the baby is more important and playing kirtans on the loudspeaker and hence agree to the requests of the family. While on the other hand, some people refuse to consider their requests and say that playing the aazaan on the loudspeaker is more crucial for them.

The teaser, discusses as to why is there a need for kirtans and aazaans to be on loudspeakers? Did loudspeakers exist traditionally in the religion itself? If not then why is there a compulsion to do so?
