Mumbai Man kills girlfriend with Ketamine injection: The couple was reportedly in a relationship for the last six months and when the woman allegedly started putting pressure to get married, the 35-year-old man from the Navi Mumbai killed her.
The accused, identified as Chandrakant Gaikar, told the police that the woman was diagnosed with a deadly disease and that's why he couldn't marry her. He went on to claim to the police that he committed the crime under the pretext of treating her illness.

1. Gaikar worked at a hospital in Panvel. He allegedly injected his girlfriend with Ketamine and dumped her body in the nearby area.
2. On May 29, the deceased woman’s body was found in the Panvel area where an airport had been proposed but there was no identity proof on her. A post-mortem examination is underway to investigate the cause of her death.
3. The deceased was later identified by her brother, Ramesh Thombre. Thombre told the police that his sister was having an affair with Gaikar, who works as a ward boy in a private hospital in Panvel, as per reports. The brother also claimed that he had heard her sister having a heated argument with the accused on phone.
4. On May 30, a rickshaw driver, who found an ID card, a purse wrapped in a yellow plastic bag near the body, handed them over to the police and it helped in identification of the deceased woman.

6. A team was sent to catch the accused and he was brought in on the basis of suspicion. During the interrogation, he confessed to the crime.
7. After interrogation, Ajay Kumar Landge, a senior police inspector from Panvel City police station said that Gaikar admitted to having murdered the woman. They reportedly had a six-month long relationship and the woman was reportedly putting pressure on the man to get married. The accused, however, claimed that his girlfriend was suffering from a disease, adding that he was fed up with the repeated pressure and decided to kill her.
8. Gaikar confessed that he injected four ketamine drug injections, following which she died. Later, he threw documents and her ID or documents along with the bag away from the body to destroy the evidence of the crime.
9. Gaikar was arrested for murder under sections 302, 328 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
10. He was produced in court on Monday when he was remanded to police custody till June 6, 2021.
