Julia Wandelt is a 21-year-old woman who claims to be the daughter of Kate and Gerry McCann who went missing in 2007 when the family was on a holiday trip to Portugal. The disappearance case of Madeleine McCann still remains one of the most controversial unsolved cases in history and was also covered by Netflix.

Netflix released a documentary in 2019 titled 'The Disappearance Of Madeleine McCann' which featured the story of one of the unsolved and most talked about cases in British investigation history. The case was from 2007 when the British couple Kate and Gerry McCann, their four-year-old daughter Madeleine, and two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie went on a holiday to Portugal. However, one night while the couple was out for dinner with friends, their eldest Madeleine was kidnapped while sleeping next to her twins.

The case was investigated thoroughly and the police got a prime suspect but he has not yet been proven guilty. Though the suspect was found, the search for Madeleine is still on.

Years later, in 2023, a woman named Julia Wandelt claimed that she was the missing eldest child of Kate and Gerry McCann, Madeleine. She shared her childhood pictures and pointed out the similarities between her and Madeleine. She chose social media to spread information about how she had coloboma, the same defect in her right eye that Madeleine had and how she had moles in her legs that the toddler claimed to have. She shared that though she does not remember most of her childhood, she does have glimpses of going to beaches and playing with turtles with other children. She does not have any memories of her family from her childhood though.

Wandelt has been raising constant appeals on social media to reach out to Kate and Gerry McCann and request their approval for a DNA test to prove things. She claims that she has a strong feeling that she can be Madeleine as she recognised the person in the police sketch of Madeleine's kidnapper as her abuser. The McCann family has reportedly approved her request for a DNA test and will soon proceed.

It is to be noted that the police suspect 45-year-old German Christian Brueckner in the case who is a German native and was reportedly present at the resort in 2003 when he saw little Madeleine in her swimsuit. A paedophile, he reportedly kidnapped and abused her. He has not yet been charged in the case and is currently serving his time in a German jail for raping a 72-year-old woman.
