Lisa Haydon posted a picture of herself breastfeeding her son to mark the World Breastfeeding Week. She wanted to celebrate the act of breastfeeding. However, her actions were met with a lot of backlash from angry trolls.
“Seeing as it's World Breastfeeding Week -- time to give some credit where credit is due. Breastfeeding has played such a big part in getting back into shape after giving birth to my baby. Breastfeeding has been challenging+time consuming (literally hours spent everyday trying to stimulate milk supply) but it's such a beautiful way to bond and connect with your child plus all the nutritional benefits that your child gets from your milk,” she wrote on Instagram.
Trolls commented on her picture, calling her shameless, and telling her not to do foolish things.
One user commented saying, “Don’t create nuisance on internet by posting it on social media. Try to act in good movies that will help you to gain identity.”
Another accused her of utilising her private moments to gain more followers.
There were others who responded with even lewder comments.
However, Haydon’s fans quickly jumped in to defend her. “You are an inspiration,” said one user.
“In a country like India, we are lucky to have celebs like Lisa who discuss these things openly and without hesitation,” said another user.
Lisa Haydon gave birth to baby Zack on May 17. The star’s Instagram is full of pictures of the adorable baby, and he is taking social media by storm.
It is time we stopped shaming women for breastfeeding their children. As more women try to normalise the idea of breastfeeding in public, let us hope that it is accepted as a natural idea.
