"I just want to let you know that Harvey’s a rapist and this is going to come out at some point,” Dunham told Clinton campaign’s deputy communications director, Kristina Schake. “I think it’s a really bad idea for him to host fundraisers and be involved, because it’s an open secret in Hollywood that he has a problem with sexual assault.”

She also warned Clinton’s campaign spokesperson Adrienne Elrod who organised events with celebrities. Dunham says they ignored her claims about Weinstein.

Even Tina Brown had warned a member of the campaign as early as 2008. "I was hearing that Harvey’s sleaziness with women had escalated since I left Talk in 2002 and she (Hillary) was unwise to be so closely associated with him,” Brown said.

Clinton and Weinstein's close relationship:

Hillary Clinton had close ties with Harvey Weinstein. He donated $1.4 million to her campaign. When Bill Clinton was facing impeachment, he donated $10,000 to his legal defense fund.

He was an early backer of both Hillary's Presidential bids. He even dined with her after she lost to Donald Trump. The relationship was so close that less than a week before the news about his behaviour was published, Clinton’s lawyer had emailed Weinstein about European buyers for the documentary about her Presidential campaign.

"He operated a machinery of PR people, journalists, private investigators, and powerful lawyers to keep people quiet. That also included many famous friends and 'chief among them were Bill and Hillary Clinton', the NYT said in its expose on the Hollywood producer

Weinstein was recently accused of sexual harassment in the industry. Over a dozen women opened up about unsolicited sexual advances from Weinstein. Three women have accused the powerful film executive of rape. Even men from Hollywood haven’t held back against Weinstein’s behaviour. Several surfaced in the public explaining his sexual misconduct.
