What Did Kunal Kamra Say About Nirmala Sitharaman In His Satire Video?
Kunal Kamra just dropped a parody of the song 'Hawa Hawai' taking a dig at Nirmala Sitharaman, right when Mumbai police hit him with a second summon over his ‘traitor’ jab at Eknath Shinde.
On the day, Mumbai Police sent him a second summons for his comments on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, comedian Kunal Kamra posted another satirical song, taking a swing at Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Kamra's parody of the popular old song 'Hawa-Hawai' from the 1987 superhit film 'Mr India' was part of the original comedy special that was recorded at the Habitat Comedy Club in Mumbai's Khar about a month ago. Comedian Kunal Kamra, who’s already caught up in defamation charges, just dropped a parody of 'Hawa Hawai' from 'Mr. India', titled "Aapka tax ka paisa ho raha hai hawa hawai" (your tax money is going to waste), the song takes subtle digs at the BJP-led Centre over the collapsing infrastructure and the rising traffic.
With lyrics like, "Traffic badhane yeh hai aayi, bridges giraane yeh hai aayi, kehte hai isko tanashahi (dictatorship)," Kamra keeps the satire sharp, turning up the heat. The parody doesn’t hold back from calling out the Centre for ignoring middle-class struggles while making them "pay more taxes than corporates."
Featuring lyrics like "Logon ki lootne kamaai, sari waali didi aayi, salary churaane yeh hai aayi, middle class dabaane yeh hai aayi, popcorn khilaane yeh hai aayi, kehte hai isko Nirmala tai," Kamra goes all in, taking a sharp dig at the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The popcorn reference isn't random, it points to the controversy over GST’s three different tax slabs for the snack, earlier this year. Nirmala Sitharaman faced criticism from the opposition over the issue, and Kamra seems to be taking a subtle dig at it in his parody.

Kunal's Satire Video On Vandalism
On Tuesday, Kunal Kamra shared clips of Shiv Sena workers vandalizing the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, where he had made the 'traitor' remark during one of his performances. The video was accompanied by a parody song, 'Hum hongey kangal' (We will be paupers).
The comedian, who has had multiple clashes with the BJP-led Centre, has made it clear that he won’t be apologising for his remarks against Shinde. However, he has stated that he will cooperate with the police.
"I will not apologise... I don't fear this mob, and I won't be hiding under the bed, waiting for this to die down," Kamra said, breaking his silence on the controversy.
