Kerala Man Held For Sexually Assaulting Minor And Impregnating Her

Man Arrested For Impregnating Minor: A 20-year-old man was arrested on September 2 for alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl and impregnating her in Kochi, Kerala.

As per reports, the alleged incident came to light when a cleaning staff at a private hospital in Kochi discovered a dead body of a newborn child on September 1. The Ernakulam South police had then registered a case regarding the unnatural death of the new born and a separate one under the Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the man.
The 17-year-old minor had reportedly delivered the baby when it was just six months old and was admitted to the hospital earlier this week. The survivor belongs to Kadavanthra area of Ernakulam. She had come to the private hospital in Kochi for a check up as she was suffering from pain in her stomach.

The accused person who allegedly assaulted the minor and impregnated her belongs to Wayanad district in Kerala. He was staying in Kochi for work purposes. The police have now arrested him in the case.
According to a report by ANI, the police officials said that the survivor and the accused knew each other. They also have been told that the accused was the minor's distant relative.

"The duo knew each other. He has sexually abused the girl at her house. There were several reports that the accused was a distant relative of the girl... There are reports that the body was flushed down. But it was found on the toilet, not flushed down," the official said.

Earlier this year, a 46-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating a minor girl in Tripura’s Khowai district. The 16-year-old girl was seven-month pregnant now, according to police.

The local police officer had stated that the accused person's name is Shyamal Sarkar who was a booth functionary of the Bharatiya Janta Party. Sarkar was reportedly in-charge of the Krishnapur booth in the area. He was arrested by police.
