Amritanandamayi Ashram: Kirsi Esther Karvo, a 52-year-old woman from Finland, was found dead in the Kollam district's in the Amritanandamayi ashram in the Karunagappally area on Tuesday.
As per the early stage police investigation, the woman is suspected to have killed herself. The police are however looking into the matter to know if the cause of her death was something else. The woman's body is kept in Karunagappally Taluk hospital.
Karvo's death comes after other similar cases in which a foreign national was found dead in Mata Amritanandamayi Ashram. A British national, Steffade, had also died in the same ashram in June 2020. The 45-year-old woman's death cause was also cited as suicide by the police as she had reportedly died after falling from a building.
Kirsi Esther Karvo had been going through depression reportedly according to the Amritanandamayi ashram authorities. The Amritanandamayi ashram had said the same about Steffade in 2020. Before the British national a 56-year-old Japanese man named Ouchi Eiji was found dead in his room at the ashram, his death was also called suicide, according to reports. The ashram had made headlines for a Bihar student. Satnam Singh Mann, who had reportedly caused disruptions in the workings of the ashram before. It was when the man had barged into Amritanandamayi ashram's podium. He had then been arrested by the police and later shifted to a mental asylum. After some time, Satnam Singh Mann died in the asylum. As per reports, Singh's relatives had made allegations of foul play resulting in Mann's death.

As per reports, a woman from Uzbekistan was assaulted by airport authorities at Delhi airport in on May 3, 2019. The woman had reportedly visited India for medical reasons. Citing security reasons, the woman was allegedly taken to a private room by an officer. The room had no CCTV camera's installed and the woman was not accompanied by any female officer. She was reportedly kept there for over half an hour and was allegedly assaulted. After her complaint, two senior officials of the Delhi airport authority were suspended.
