Karnataka sex scandal: Bengaluru police has registered a case of conspiracy and blackmailing against unknown persons based on a complaint by BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi who had resigned as minister after the allegations of sexual harassment were made against him.
The Water Resources Minister of Karnatak Jarkiholi was recently involved in a scandal where an alleged sex tape was aired on local news channels which showed Jarkiholi with a young woman.
He later resigned after the allegations of coercion and sexual harassment were made against him. He had said that he is resigning on "moral grounds" and completely denied the allegations. A social activist Dinesh Kalahalli had alleged that Jarkiholi enticed the young woman into making the videotape by promising her to give a government job.
The minister had then denied the allegations and called them “far from the truth”. He had said, " The allegations against me are far from the truth, an investigation is needed to prove the truth. Though I have faith of being proven innocent, I am submitting my resignation on moral grounds. Please accept my resignation." BJP MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi, Ramesh's brother had also asked for a CBI probe into the matter.
Ramesh Jarkiholi had called the videotape a conspiracy and had called ut a fake video. He earlier said that he will not resign. He had claimed, "It is a fake video. Will resign and quit politics if allegations are proven. Don’t know this person or who she is."
