It's a fist bump one will see more often. America's first female vice president Kamala Devi Harris at inauguration day came off the stage and gave fist bumps to US President Joe Biden and former American first lady Michelle Obama.
It’s the Kamala Harris Michelle Obama #Inauguration fist bump for me!✊🏾pic.twitter.com/9h2kW1odYY

Kamala Devi Harris is America's first female vice president and that's not her only first.
Her inauguration, alongside US President Joe Biden, makes her the first-ever woman and first Black and Indian-American person to take this office, which is among the highest in the country. Their tenure commenced following a swearing-in ceremony held at the US Capitol in Washington DC on the noon of January 20.
The fist bump is a Harris trademark, something she even greeted Biden with instantly after she took oath as the Vice President.
Obama, through the 2020 Election campaign, had been backing the Biden-Harris administration. The two women share a thread of African-American history, both with Black ancestry.
Obama, Harris, and Hillary Clinton –the most prominent women at the inauguration – have all made a statement in purple-shaded outfits. It is being reported that Obama and Harris’ outfits have been made by Black designers, giving representation centre stage at the important ceremony. According to Harper’s Bazaar, “Purple is typically meant to represent bipartisanship—a clear cornerstone of the new administration after four years of divisiveness.”
