Italian MP Gilda Sportiello Creates History By Breastfeeding Baby In Parliament

Gilda Sportiello, a member of parliament from Italy, was the first woman to breastfeed her kid in the Italian Parliament on June 7. During a wave of applause in the Chamber of Deputies, the 36-year-old member fed her two-month-old baby Frederico, marking an important occasion in the political history of the country.

It was greatly welcomed in Italy's Parliament, and the other MPs applauded her as she received encouragement. She became the first Lower House of Parliament member to accomplish so. While nursing has been seen in parliament in other nations, it hasn't happened in Italy, partly because of its male-dominated political system, where almost two-thirds of MPs are male.

A member of parliament for the liberal Five-Star Movement Party, Gilda Sportiello claimed that many mothers abruptly cease breastfeeding their children because of their busy schedules.
