Israeli model, Noam Mazal Ben-David, said that she had to witness her boyfriend, David Neman, being shot down but had to play dead under his lifeless body for nearly two hours until the Israeli Defense Forces rescued her. 27-year-old Ben-David was also shot in the foot and hip and is currently recovering at Laniado Hospital in Netanya.

Massacre at music festival

Ben-David and Neman were attending the Supernova music festival in Re’im, Israel, when they heard a series of explosions, which they assumed were fireworks. But soon, panic set in when they realised that Hamas terrorists were opening fire on around 3000 Israelis in the crowd.

Ben-David recalled seeing concert-goers running helter-skelter, while some fell to the ground. She and Neman tried getting into their car and driving off but all exits had been blocked. They then hid inside a large dumpster along with 14 other people.

She further said that she heard a girl cry for help, begging not to be taken away. “They kidnapped her. They did terrible, terrible things to her. We were all calling our family and friends, sharing our location and begging for help," Ben-David said. Her boyfriend pushed her to the back of the dumpster and told her to go as deep under as she could, to conceal herself from the attackers.

She then saw 25-year-old Neman being shot in the chest right in front of her eyes, but she was forced to remain quiet, playing dead under his body, waiting for the killing spree to end. Ben-David said that only four out of the 16 people in the dumpster managed to make it out alive.

Ben-David is currently being treated for her physical wounds at the hospital, and also receiving counselling for the psychological trauma from the ordeal. “Hamas have committed a long list of documented crimes in this attack, including the killing of civilians, children, burning people alive and abusing the bodies of civilians and soldiers. Israel has the right to defend itself after these atrocious acts,” she told the media.

Hamas terrorists had blown through Israel’s fortified separation fence and crossed into the country from Gaza, opening fire on concert-goers who had come together to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot on October 7.
