This is what IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla, of the Congress party, said at the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday (August 2) when he lauded India's sportswomen for their increasing achievements in the global arena.

Stressing the increasing importance of providing infrastructure and facilities, Shukla pointed out that women who are involved in sports in the country should be provided all possible amenities and equal opportunities as the men.

While the Parliament remained agenda driven throughout the session with multiple adjournments, Shukla managed to draw the members' attention to the need to give better facilities to sportswomen. He also praised the wonderful final show put up by the Indian women's cricket team at the recent ICC Women's World Cup.

Captain Mithali Raj  too believes in “creating the base” of an Indian Premier League dedicated to women players. Frankly, demanding a tournament along the lines of the IPL for male cricketers isn’t that hard to perceive, is it?

We hope to see a change this time!
