Indra Nooyi has received an honorary degree from the prestigious Yale University. This was in recognition of her many achievements in business. She is a role model for several people. Nooyi has time and again encouraged women to see themselves as top-corporate executives.

She had got a degree in Master of Public and Private Management from the Yale School of Management in the year 1980. She was presented with the ‘Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.’

“Global role model, in recognition of your achievements in business and for society, we are honoured to present you with your second Yale degree, Doctor of Humane Letters.”

The citation for Indra Nooyi at the university commencement ceremony on the 20th of May said:

“Intrepid trailblazer, you have led with purpose, ascending the corporate ladder and encouraging women and girls to picture themselves in the C-suite. With brilliance and fortitude, you have embraced change, seized opportunities, and set an enduring example of success.”

It had later added: “Global role model, in recognition of your achievements in business and for society, we are honoured to present you with your second Yale degree, Doctor of Humane Letters.”

Nooyi had tweeted in response to this. She had said that she felt honoured to receive this degree from a university that has played a large part in her career.

She tweeted, “To receive this recognition is a profound honour and it is made all the more meaningful coming from a university that instilled in me so many of the values that drive my work. I am grateful to join the remarkable group of 2019 honourees who exemplify the spirit of @Yale.”

She is one of 11 people who were presented with honorary degrees for excellence in their respective fields. Other people presented with the degree included people such as Feminist Gloria Steinem, Wildlife researcher Cynthia Moss, the president of Harvard University Lawrence Bacow and entrepreneur and philanthropist Strive Masiyiwa.

This phenomenal lady is celebrated all around the world and is a role model for all those people who want to achieve great heights in the corporate field. Her commitment toward helping others achieve success and her great leadership is what makes her so unique and amazing.

Very recently, she was elected on the board of Amazon. She sits there on the audit compensation committee. She is also a member in the World Economic Forum Board of Trustees. Along with this she also is part of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Along with all of this, she is an independent director of the International Cricket Council. She is also the chair of the compensation committee at Schlumberger.

She is one of the 25 women to have led Forbes 500 company. Indra Nooyi has appeared several times in Forbes and the Fortune ranking of the world’s most powerful women.

She is truly an inspirational woman and is a great role model!
