The Indian Women’s Hockey team achieved a remarkable victory over Japan in the finals of Olympic Test Event held on Wednesday at Oi Hockey Stadium. The match was indeed a nail-biting fight and ended up with India’s win of 2-1 over Japan. From India, Navjot Kaur scored a goal at 11th minute of the play while Lalremsiami scored another at 33rd minute. Japan’s only goal was scored by Miami Shimizu at 12th minute of the match.

The first-quarter went off well for both the teams as the scoreboard displayed equal number of goals 1-1. It was in the 11th minute of the first-quarter when Navjot Kaur scored the first goal for India. In the very next minute, Japan hit their first goal against India. The second and third quarter did not see any additional goals and the teams showcased their brilliant defence against each other. In the fourth quarter, however, India overturned the nail-biting match and registered their victory as Lalremsiami hit her goal.

Describing the score of Lairemsiami, Hockey India writes, “India's prolific drag-flicker Gurjit Kaur stepped up to take the execution, but her shot was saved by the Japanese Goalkeeper Megumi Kageyama, but the rebound fell to India's young Forward Lalremsiami, who did not make a mistake in putting the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-1 to India.”

The last quarter handed over the victory to India when Indian Goalkeeper Savita saved the goal post from Japan’s score to equalise the match. With this, Indian Women's Hockey with its wonderful players and strategised team play won the finals of Olympic Test Event and the hearts of many aspiring fans.
